Meso-American Turtles, native to North America, inhabit freshwater habitats such as rivers, lakes, and ponds. These semi-aquatic reptiles are recognized for their distinct yellow-striped heads and dark shells. Primarily herbivorous, they consume aquatic plants and occasionally small invertebrates. 

Adult size: 40cm

Life span: 20-50 years
