Captive Bred 2024

The Spiny-tailed Water Skink (Tropidophorus baconi) is a small species of semi-aquatic skink found in parts of Southeast Asia, especially in Vietnam and China. Like other members of the genus Tropidophorus, it prefers moist habitats such as forest streams, rocky riverbanks, and shaded areas near water. The lizard has a dark brown to black body with rough, strongly keeled scales that give it a slightly spiny appearance and help protect it from predators. Tropidophorus baconi is mainly active during the day and feeds on small invertebrates such as insects, worms, and other tiny animals. When threatened, it can quickly dive into water or hide among rocks and vegetation, which is why these skinks are often called water skinks.

Adult Length: 30cm

Life Span: 10-15 years.
