American green tree frogs (Hyla cinerea) are small, vibrant amphibians native to the south-eastern United States, often found in wetlands, swamps, and marshy forests. Their smooth, lime-green skin, occasionally marked with a white or yellow stripe along the sides, helps them blend into their leafy surroundings. These nocturnal frogs are insectivorous, feeding primarily on flies, crickets, and other small insects. They are known for their distinctive, bell-like calls, especially during warm and rainy nights. In captivity, they are popular pets due to their manageable size, attractive appearance, and relatively simple care requirements. A well-maintained terrarium with high humidity, plenty of vertical space for climbing, and clean water makes them suitable for beginner amphibian keepers, though they are more for observation than handling due to their delicate skin.
Adult Size: 4-5cm
