Ocellated skinks (Chalcides ocellatus) are a species of lizard found across parts of southern Europe, northern Africa, and the Middle East. They are named for the eye-like spots, or ocelli, that often appear on their scales, giving them a distinctive and attractive appearance. These skinks have smooth, shiny bodies and relatively short limbs, which help them move easily through sandy or loose soil habitats. They are diurnal and primarily insectivorous, feeding on a variety of small invertebrates. Ocellated skinks are known for their secretive behaviour, often hiding under rocks or vegetation to avoid predators.

Adult Length: 20-30cm

Life Span: 5-10 years.
