Bosc monitors or Savannah Monitors, Varanus exanthematicus, are large, terrestrial lizards native to arid regions of Africa. Popularly referred to as Savannah monitors, they are characterized by robust bodies, powerful limbs, and distinctive, elongated heads. Displaying a range of colors, from earthy browns to yellows, they blend seamlessly with their dry, savannah surroundings. Growing up to four feet in length, these monitors are skilled climbers and opportunistic hunters, preying on insects, small mammals, and birds. Despite their impressive appearance, Bosc monitors are challenging to keep as pets due to specific habitat requirements, including proper heating, lighting, and spacious enclosures.
Please be aware these monitors grow large.
Adult Size: ~1 meter
Life Span: 10-15 Years
